Hungarian Water Partnership strengthens cooperation with Hung Vuong University in Ho Chi Minh City

The Hungarian Water Partnership is pleased to highlight a new step in its international cooperation activities in Southeast Asia through a strategic partnership with Hung Vuong University Ho Chi Minh City (DHV), Vietnam.

On 23 April 2026, HWP along with representatives of the Consulate General of Hungary in Ho Chi Minh City was welcomed by DHV for a professional meeting focused on technology transfer, education, research cooperation and international water-sector connections. The visit formed part of the Hungarian Water Partnerships strategy to strengthen ties to the Vietnamese Water Sector and created an opportunity to explore practical cooperation between Hungarian water-sector expertise and Vietnamese institutional, industrial and educational partners.

During the meeting, the parties discussed potential cooperation in key areas of the water sector, including drinking water treatment, industrial water treatment, wastewater treatment and water quality control. Based on these discussions, DHV and HWP agreed on the direction of a long-term strategic cooperation aimed at supporting the transfer and application of advanced Hungarian water technologies in Vietnam.

A central moment of the programme was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between DHV and the Hungarian Water Partnership, witnessed by the Consulate General of Hungary in Ho Chi Minh City. The agreement lays the foundation for broader collaboration in education, research, technology transfer, academic exchange and the development of future professional opportunities for students.

For HWP, the cooperation represents an important opportunity to strengthen Hungary’s visibility in the Vietnamese water sector and to create new bridges between Hungarian companies, universities, technology providers and local partners. The partnership also supports HWP’s broader mission to connect Hungarian water knowledge with international markets and contribute to sustainable water management through practical, innovation-driven cooperation.

The cooperation with DHV opens new possibilities for joint programmes, professional exchanges and pilot-oriented technology discussions, particularly in areas where Hungarian water-sector solutions can support Vietnam’s sustainable development goals and the modernisation of industrial and urban water infrastructure.

Through this partnership, HWP continues to expand its international network and reinforce its role as a platform for connecting Hungarian water-sector expertise with global opportunities.

Next Steps and Joint Workshop

As a next step, HWP and DHV will organise a Joint Workshop on water use and water treatment, food safety and the food industry, industrial water solutions and more on the 24th of September in Ho Chi Minh City.
