HWP at IFAT 2026 – Connecting continents, shaping water’s future

‍ ‍

During the four days of this year’s IFAT Munich international environmental trade fair, the stand of the Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP) became a true international meeting point. We welcomed visitors, partners, and decision-makers from five continents, engaging in numerous professional discussions.

Held every two years, IFAT is the world’s leading exhibition for environmental technologies, and in 2026 it celebrated its 60th anniversary.

The scale of the event speaks for itself: more than 3,400 exhibitors from over 60 countries and around 142,000 visitors from nearly 160 countries took part. Everyone who matters in the sector was present.

At the 71 m² independent stand of one of HWP’s founding member companies, Hungarian export‑ready water expertise was represented, showcasing the internationally relevant technologies of HWP member companies. For us, the event was more than just an exhibition—it was a shared platform for discussing the future of water, innovation, technologies, and sustainable, affordable solutions.

On the second day of the exhibition, May 5, we organized a professional event with the participation of international and domestic partner organizations such as EWA, IWA, DWA, WEF, ARA, PASA, AfWASA, HEPA, and KSZGYSZ, as well as exhibitors and visitors. At this event, our founding member company, Pureco Ltd., signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Pan‑African Association of Sanitation Actors (PASA).

The agreement aims to support the preparation and implementation of projects focusing on the treatment of wastewater generated in unsewered settlements (faecal sludge, FSTP), primarily aligned with international financing and funding frameworks such as the Global Gateway.

The elevated level of cooperation formalized at IFAT was built on the partnership agreement previously signed between HWP and PASA at the Planet exhibition earlier this year.

The scale of the exhibition and the high number of visitor enquiries once again clearly demonstrated the key role that environmental technologies play in resilience, competitiveness, and sustainable growth.

The strong interest of the professional audience, the extensive discussions with international partners, and the many inspiring conversations all confirmed that the solutions offered by HWP member companies are highly relevant and in demand on the global market.
