HWP Strengthens Water Sector Cooperation with East Asia University of Technology
The Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP) has signed a cooperation agreement with East Asia University of Technology (EAUT) in Vietnam, establishing a framework for joint research, professional exchanges and closer links between higher education and the water industry.
The agreement was signed on behalf of HWP by Róbert Forintos, HWP’s founding Co-Chair and a Director of Tradeland Group. It aims to build a long-term partnership that brings Hungarian technological expertise together with Vietnamese academic and industry needs.
HWP Secretary General Bálint Horváth and Southeast Asia Project Coordinator Tímea Kricskovics were also part of the delegation, alongside representatives of the Hungarian Embassy, EAUT’s leadership and further Hungarian businesses, including HWP Members Pureco and Tradeland.
From research to practical application
The cooperation between the parties will focus on water and wastewater treatment, environmental technologies, energy efficiency and digital transformation in the water sector. The partners aim to advance joint R&D, technology demonstrations and knowledge transfer, while strengthening connections between universities, companies and research organisations in both countries.
The framework also envisages expert and academic exchanges, professional workshops, and opportunities for internships, study, research and scholarships for students and lecturers. These activities are intended to give participants direct exposure to international expertise and the practical demands of the water industry.
Eighty students from EAUT’s Faculty of Energy Technology attended the signing event, bringing future water professionals into direct contact with Hungarian experts and businesses.
Continuing HWP’s engagement in Vietnam
The agreement builds on HWP’s wider cooperation with Vietnamese universities and water sector partners. At the Connecting Continents 2026 workshop, held at Hung Vuong University in Ho Chi Minh City on 14 September, discussions explored how research, training and pilot projects can support the introduction of Hungarian water technologies in Vietnam.
Through this cooperation, HWP aims to help turn shared expertise into applied research and professional development, while creating further opportunities for Hungarian water technologies to contribute to sustainable water management in Vietnam.
