Hungarian - Vietnamese Water Cooperation in Focus at Vietnam Water Week 2025
The Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP) was strongly represented at Vietnam Water Week 2025, one of Vietnam’s leading water-sector events, held in Hanoi from 20-22 August 2025.
The event brought together hundreds of Vietnamese and international water professionals, companies, decision-makers and diplomats to discuss the future of the sector under the theme “Vietnam’s Water Sector in the New Era: Challenges and Opportunities.”
Hungary was represented at the event not only through its diplomatic presence, but also through professional expertise and technologies developed by HWP member companies.
Water management at the centre of future development
The opening ceremony highlighted the growing importance of water management in the face of climate change, urbanisation, pressure on water resources and infrastructure development needs. Speakers emphasised that the future of the water sector depends on a combination of cooperation, innovation, long-term commitment and international knowledge exchange. These messages strongly align with HWP’s own mission: to connect Hungarian water-sector expertise with international partners and to support the implementation of practical, sustainable and scalable solutions.
Hungarian technologies featured in Vietnam
A notable element of Vietnam Water Week 2025 was the professional visibility given to Hungarian water technologies. The official publication of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) featured an article presenting the innovative AsMET technology developed by Puraset Ltd., an HWP member company.
AsMET is based on regenerable adsorbent technology for arsenic removal, offering a sustainable approach to drinking water treatment while helping to reduce waste generation and operational costs. The inclusion of the technology in the VWSA publication reflects the growing interest in Hungarian water-treatment solutions in Vietnam and the wider Southeast Asian region.
Recognition for decades of Hungarian-Vietnamese cooperation
Vietnam Water Week 2025 was also an important milestone in the long-standing professional relationship between Hungary and Vietnam.
During the gala event, Róbert Forintos, Co-President of the Hungarian Water Partnership, received the Commemorative Medal of the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) in recognition of his contribution to the development of the Vietnamese water sector and to strengthening Hungarian-Vietnamese professional relations. The award marked an important recognition of many years of cooperation, relationship-building and professional exchange between the two countries.
A second article published by VWSA during the event looked back at the long history of Hungarian-Vietnamese cooperation in water management, highlighting Hungary’s contribution to professional development and technology transfer.
Cooperation built on expertise and trust
Hungarian-Vietnamese water-sector cooperation has developed over several decades and continues to expand through professional organisations, companies, universities and public institutions.
For HWP, Vietnam is an important partner market where Hungarian expertise in areas such as:

Vietnam Water Week 2025 demonstrated once again that successful international water cooperation depends not only on technology, but also on trust, continuity and strong professional partnerships. The recognition received in Hanoi and the visibility given to Hungarian technologies represent another important step in strengthening the international presence of the Hungarian water sector in Southeast Asia.
