Hungarian Water Partnership and BME Join Forces to Advance Water Innovation

The Hungarian Water Partnership Nonprofit Ltd. (HWP) and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) have signed a cooperation agreement marking an important new chapter in the collaboration between Hungary’s water industry and Hungary`s academic community.

The agreement establishes a strong framework for joint activities in water management, water-industry development, research and innovation, higher education and international professional cooperation. By combining BME’s internationally recognised academic and research expertise with HWP’s extensive industry network and international experience, the partnership creates outstanding opportunities to transform knowledge and innovation into practical, market-ready solutions.

A central objective of the cooperation is to raise the profile of Hungarian water-sector expertise, technologies and innovation both at home and internationally. The two organisations will exchange professional knowledge and best practices, mutually support events and sectoral initiatives, and explore opportunities to prepare joint research, innovation, educational and international projects.

The partnership will also help build stronger connections among university students, researchers, water professionals and businesses. It is expected to open new pathways for research and development, professional training, knowledge transfer and joint funding applications, while enabling future generations of water-sector professionals to engage more closely with real-world industry challenges.

For the Hungarian Water Partnership, cooperation with one of Hungary’s leading technical universities represents a highly valuable strategic milestone. Bringing together academic excellence, practical industry experience and an extensive international network will strengthen Hungary’s capacity to respond to increasingly complex water-related challenges with sustainable, innovative and economically viable solutions.

We are looking forward to the work ahead with BME and the potential we can unlock together through this partnership when the scientific, educational and business communities work towards a shared goal.
