Hungarian Water Partnership at the 25th International Business Fair Mostar

The Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP) participated in the 25th International Business Fair Mostar, held from 16-20 April 2024 in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, representing its export-oriented member companies and supporting the development of new international business opportunities in the Western Balkans.

The event brought together more than 800 exhibitors from around 30 countries, making it one of the most important regional platforms for trade, investment promotion and cross-border business development.

As part of the Hungarian presence at the fair, HWP organised international B2B business meetings and introduced Hungarian water-sector expertise to potential partners, decision-makers and companies from across the region.

A major regional platform for international cooperation

The 2024 edition of the International Business Fair Mostar took place at the Mostarski Sajam exhibition grounds, with the Republic of Croatia serving as partner country.

The fair was officially opened by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, together with political and economic representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.

Alongside the main exhibition programme, the event also featured the 3rd Mostar Economic Forum, which focused on the European Union perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as specialised programmes covering tourism, wine and IT technologies. This broader economic context made the fair particularly relevant for HWP’s market-development activities, as infrastructure modernisation, EU integration and regional investment are closely linked to future opportunities in the water and environmental sectors.

Connecting Hungarian water expertise with regional opportunities

For HWP, participation in the event provided an opportunity to present the capabilities of Hungarian companies active in water technology, water management and environmental infrastructure, while creating direct connections with potential local and international partners.

The Partnership’s activities focused particularly on facilitating:

  • international B2B networking,

  • technology transfer,

  • bilateral business partnerships,

  • professional cooperation, and

  • market-entry opportunities for Hungarian water-sector companies.

Through these meetings, HWP supported its members in identifying potential projects, understanding local market needs and establishing relationships that may lead to future commercial cooperation.

Sustainable drinking water and wastewater solutions

The Hungarian water sector has significant experience in the development and implementation of sustainable drinking water and wastewater technologies.

At the Mostar International Business Fair, HWP highlighted solutions relevant to municipalities, utilities, infrastructure developers and industrial partners, including technologies supporting safe drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, water efficiency and sustainable infrastructure development. Such solutions are becoming increasingly important across the Western Balkans, where infrastructure modernisation, environmental compliance and sustainable water-resource management remain key development priorities.

Supporting export-oriented Hungarian companies

One of the central missions of Hungarian Water Partnership Nonprofit Kft. is to strengthen the international presence of Hungarian water companies by creating a shared export platform and supporting cooperation between companies, professional organisations and international partners. Participation in Mostar formed part of this broader market-development activity. By representing its member companies collectively, HWP can introduce a wider range of complementary technologies and expertise while helping international partners identify integrated Hungarian solutions for water-related challenges.

Building long-term regional partnerships

The B2B meetings organised during the 25th International Business Fair Mostar provided an important opportunity to develop new professional and commercial contacts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider Western Balkan region.

For HWP, international exhibitions and business forums are not only opportunities to showcase technologies. They are also platforms for building the long-term relationships required for successful infrastructure cooperation, technology transfer and market development.

The Hungarian Water Partnership will continue to support its member companies in identifying new export opportunities and strengthening the presence of Hungarian water expertise and sustainable technologies in international markets.
